RE: Update on Salem Forest River TT flooding

Susan, do you have your own insurance? Do you have pictures of the damage when it first happened? If your trailer was flooded with raw sewer water, the trailer should be totaled! If you have insurance put in a claim. Let your insurance company fight the RV park. If you don't have insurance, contact the Attorney Generals Office in your state for advice and help. I wouldn't live in your RV if it was flooded with sewage. If your talking about a small spill that got the bath room floor wet that's a different story.
Good luck

RE: Cross country trip with Kids - TT vs. Class C

I did a 6 week cross country trip with twin 11 year old boys and a 13 year old girl 3 years ago. We drove about 500 miles a day. Check out your route and look for places to stop that look interesting. We bought a duel screen DVD system that could play 2 moves at the same time. We also made up kits for each kid so they could draw and do other things to keep them occupied. I would go with the travel trailer and van. We would drive for a long day and stop at a truck stop for the night. We would leave early in the morning and camp that night some plce the kids would like. I think 7 days in row driving would drive the kids and you crazy. Drive long days for 2 or 3 days and then have a day of rest and play for thye kids.
Have a great trip.

RE: Campground suggestions btwn. NY and Bar Harbor, ME

Try Wabanaki Campground in Ossipee New Hampshire. They are located on the northeast shore of Ossipee Lake. They are not a resort with activities for the kids. They have a nice beach and a feild for the kids to play in. There are a lot of places to go and site to see in the area. They are about 2 mile from Danforth Bay Campground. Wabanaki Campground is a family owned campground and has been in business for almost 50 years.
Have a great trip!

RE: Vermont Route 4

I've taken that route to Lake George at least 10. Rte 4 is a nice road to travel. It runs along a river in Vermont and has a lot of bends. You shouldn't have any problems in that area. There is an up hill pull over Kilington Mountain to Rutland Vermont. Take your time going over the Mountain. There are places to pull off if you start to over heat. Lake George is a great place to go. I'm going back there with my boat in August.
Have a great trip!

RE: Western US Tour

We did a 6 week cross country trip 3 years ago. I planned the trip on this forum. I took out the map and decided what sites we wanted to see. I have 3 kids so they each got to pick one place to go. I posted questions about the best places to stay at each place. We had a great time. If you only have 3 weeks you will have to spend long days on the road to make up time. We would drive late into the night and pull off at a Walmart or truck stop to save time and money. You could make Mount Rushmore and the Bad Lands in 2 to 2 1/2 days. We went to Cody WY., Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons next. Look at the maps and decide what you want to see and how much time you have stay there. You can see a lot in a few days and move on to the next stop.
Have a great trip!

RE: Teen's Summer Job

I think leaving a 16 year old home alone without supervision is begging for a problem. Do you have a brother or sister he could stay with? I told my 16 year old daughter she could stay with my 80 year Grand Father who is in good health and is a 38 year veteran police officer. She didn't like that idea! We got her a job at a campground about 3 miles from ours. She loved the job and is going back to work there this summer. My twin boy want to get a job at the golf course near the campground next year.
Good luck!

RE: Request for help to stop Township RV zoning ordinance

We have a local law on the books about not having an RV in the driveway. A guy I know was having a hard time with one neighbor who didn't like his RV. He moved the RV to his side yard but the same neighbor complained it was to close to the road. It had to be 25 feet from the road. It was 20 feet from the road.
I was sent there to tell him to move the RV or he would have to go to court. He told me about all the trouble he was having with this one neighbor. I knew his family had an old 1940's tow truck that was all rotted out. I told him he was allowed to have 1 unregistered vehicle on his property. I told him if I had a neighbor like that, I'd have the tow truck moved to my side yard and put a planter on the roof. He had it moved to his side yard. He put a fence around it on 3 sides so no one else had to see it.
He was within the law and they couldn't make him move it. He finally moved it and never had a problem with his neighbor about his RV.

RE: Parking the Truck--Anyone else?

I still have my motorcycle license but it's been about 10 years since I sold my bike. The kids are still to young for me to get another bike.
A Boston doctor bought a Vespa Scooter right after Hurricane Katrina When the price of gas started going up. He was crushed to death by a tractor trailer while riding the scooter to work.

RE: sandusky koa/bayshore estates

I think we stayed there 3 years ago when we went to Cedar Point. It was a nice place but the train drove us out a day early. The train blasts it's horn at a crossing about 3/4 of a mile from the campground.
We left in the afternoon, after a full day at Cedar Point. We were going to leave early in the morning but I knew we wouldn't get a good night sleep. We slept better at a truck stop that night. Maybe the other side of the campground would have been quieter.

RE: Viking 2170 purchase

I had 34 foot travel trailer on a seasonal site. I bought a 1997 Viking 2170 Legend to travel with. We had a great time in it. We never had a problem with it. One thing I did with mine was to put a tarp over it when it was set up. This kept the pine pitch a dirt off it.

RE: Lake George Camping

We go to Hearthstone Point State Park for week of tent camping every year. I take the boat and spend several days out on the lake. They have campsites for trailers and motor homes. Its about 5 minutes from Lake George Village. You can leave the boat in the water in front of the campground at no cost.

RE: Grand Canyon

We drove from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon a few years ago. We did it in a day. We stopped and had dinner in Williams AZ. The ride from Williams to the Grand Canyon was flat and there wasn't any traffic. We stayed in a in the National park campground just outside the village. You could take the bus from there. I think you can tour the canyon by bus. Sorry I forget the name of the campground. It may have been Camper Village?
Have a great trip!

RE: Moving up to a fifth wheel and have questions

If your hitch has bed rails, couldn't you just put in a 1 inch thick mat in the bed cut around the rail? Your camper would sit on the mat and it shouldn't cause any damage to the camper.

RE: Cedar Creek purchase in Michigan

I've asked this question before about the best place to buy a Cedar Creek 5th wheel. Check the following places.
Jeff Couch's RV World
RV Capital Wholesalers
E-Bay Motors
I got a price at a locale dealer of $64,500 on a 5th wheel. I priced one out online at RV Capital Wholesalers and it was $20,000 less. There are a lot of answers in my post. Maybe you could look at the posts for more places. Good luck finding the best price.

RE: yosemite np. camping

That was me who stayed at Yosemite Pines a few years ago. The are outside the park on the west side. They had a web site. They had a camp store and a pool. I think it was about a 15-20 minute ride to the park. I stayed in a site right beside a camp host. He showed me a short cut to avoid the I think Highway 140. I was heading to San Simeon State Park on Rte 1.
Dmax 27
I just checked and they do have a web site. They are on Highway 120 in Groveland CA. They are 22 miles from the west entrance. Try this phone number 1-877-962-7690.

RE: LA to Yellowstone

I think 441 miles in a day is doable. You'll have 2 long days of driving but the last day is only 160 miles. You can sleep in and take your time on the last day. When we go on long trips we leave at about 4:00 a.m. to beat the Boston Traffic. Once we are on the open road time goes by without much stress.
Have a good trip.

Rosieshoes
How about the Kangamangus Highway. Don't they have some camps you can hike into and be away from other people. I think a day of hiking and swimming at the Swift River will slow you down a bit.
